What does "The server does not have a DNS entry" mean?
If the web site you're visiting is too busy or too slow, your browser will give you a DNS error. Please try that web site later.

If the connection is disconnected before you visit a web site, your browser will not be able to contact the DNS and no web site address can be found. Please reconnect and try again.

If you are connected and get this error on all sites, you may need to restart your computer. If this does not fix the problem, please contact Technical Support for assistance.

Why does my connection move slow sometimes?
If the web site you're visiting is too busy, it may be slow in sending web pages to you. If you are able to view other sites quickly, then the particular site you are trying to view may be experiencing heavy traffic. Your best bet is to try the site later.

If your modem is slow (e.g. 28.8 or less), it takes longer to transfer the same amount of information than fast modems. Please contact us if you would like to upgrade to a faster modem.

If all of the sites on the Web seem slow, and you have an updated modem and computer system, you may have a problem with your Windows or browser installation. You can try re-installing the software or contact Technical Support.

Why do I keep getting disconnected?
If your telephone has "call waiting" feature, when somebody rings you while you're on the net, the call waiting notification tone (the "beep" sound) will affect your connection. Please turn off the "call waiting" feature by pressing *70 on the telephone keypad before connecting, or add this to the telephone number setting on your computer.

If the modem speed is too high for your telephone line, the connection may be unstable. Please try to connect at a lower speed (e.g. 19200 or even 9600). If it becomes more stable, then the problem is likely to be related to telephone line quality. In this case, please check with your telephone company.

If you have other telephone sets sharing the same telephone number (even in separate rooms), they may impose signals to the line during recharging (some models of telephone sets recharge themselves regularly). These signals can affect your connection. In this case, try unplugging all telephone sets before connecting and plug them back after you disconnect.

If you have a mobile phone located near the modem or phone line (even in the same house), it may interfere with the connection. Please turn all mobile phones off while connecting to the Internet. If you do need to leave them on, please place them as far as possible away from the modem and phone line.

Why can't I connect?
The modem in your computer, on occasion may "lock up" and you will be unable to connect. To fix this, shut down your machine completely, turn if off, and restart the machine. This should fix the problem.

If the message "login incorrect" or "Check your Username and Password" appears, please check your user ID or password. Your user ID and password must be in lower case.

I check my mail and it just sits there. Why?
This can be caused if someone has sent you a large file attached to an e-mail message. If this is the case, it will take longer than normal to retrieve your messages. If the file is to large, you may not be able to retrieve it at all (depending on the speed of your modem). You may need to contact technical support to have the file deleted.

Why do I receive multiple copies of the same message?
Your e-mail messages are stored in our mail server and transferred to you when you retrieve them. After you have successfully received all e-mail messages, our mail server will clear your mail box to avoid sending the messages again. However, if the connection is somehow interrupted in the middle of mail transfer, the retrieval will stop and our mail server will not delete any messages (just in case you haven't received them properly due to the interruption).

A friend of mine sent me an E-mail but I did not receive it. Why?
There are several reasons for this. First, check to see if they are spelling your E-mail address correctly and that it is in all lowercase. If the address is not in the proper format, you will not receive it and the sender may receive a message back notifying them of this. Second, some mail servers do not send outgoing mail messages immediately, but rather in batches throughout the day, thus resulting in a delay in the receipt of the message.
